Q: What is Finance Trails?

A: Finance Trails is a web-based money management solution. It lets you enter income and expense data, and then gives you great visual representations of your financial situation. The first release of Finance Trails is targeted for use as personal finance software and small business finance software. Expect more developments over 2009.

Q: How does Finance Trails work?

A: For more detailed information on how Finance Trails works, see our video demonstration and our features page. In short, Finance Trails lets you enter income and expenses, assign them to various Virtual Accounts, and then track your financial history and spending patterns. The goal of using Finance Trails is to help you become more aware of your spending habits and learn how to save money.

Q: Is the information I feed into Finance Trails secure?

A: Yes, your information is secure. All Finance Trails user accounts are on a secure domain (my.financetrails.com) that is protected by high-grade 256 bit encryption. Our security ticket is signed by Comodo CA Ltd, a leader and authority in the field of SSL certification.

Q: Do I need to give you my personal bank login details or other sensitive information?

A: No! This is central to the Finance Trails way. Several big names in the field of online services like ours require you to enter all your private bank login details and credit card information so that they can retrieve this data from your accounts automatically. This greatly increases your risks as a potential victim of fraud or online theft.

Instead, we use a streamlined input flow and a "Virtual Accounts" system to make using Finance Trails easy while keeping your private information private.

Q: I want to use Finance Trails on more that one computer. Is that possible?

A: Yes. Finance Trails is a web-based budgeting and money management solution. This means that as long as you know your login details you can access your account from any computer connected to the Internet. Enter payments at home, at work, or while traveling, and benefit from a centralized and accessible financial planning solution!

Q: I want to use Finance Trails for my household finances as well as my small business. Is that possible?

A: Any single Finance Trails account can be used for multiple purposes. It is entirely possible to manage your household finances and your small business incomes and expenses from one account. However, there are limitations to this approach. For instance, anyone else in your workplace will see all of your data, not only that related to your business transactions. For this reason, consider opening separate accounts for your household and business needs.

Q: I speak (insert any language here). Can I use Finance Trails in my language?

A: The short answer is yes, Finance Trails has been built for wide language support in the interface. Currently, three languages are supported (English, Russian, and Hebrew), with more planned soon (first candidates for translation are Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, French, and German). If you would like us to consider your language for higher priority in the language roll-out process, contact us and let us know!

Q: My payments are in multiple currencies. Can Finance Trails handle my payments properly?

A: Yes. Finance Trails supports all major currencies and many more. Currently, currency setting are at a global level, but we have plans to introduce currency settings per payment as well, with Finance Trails taking care of conversions automatically.

Q: Our company wants to use Finance Trails, but not over the Internet. Can we make a custom installation on our internal servers?
