Health Care Legislation Confusion
As the health care legislation passed through the congress and President Obama signed it into law, everyone knew there would be plenty of changes in the system. No matter how you feel politically about the changes, it would be wise to start preparing yourself. A potential downfall of a new program like this is the scam artists who use the public’s lack of knowledge to generate unscrupulous profits. The piece by David Goldstein, of McClatchy Newspapers, about the exploitation of that confusion is very telling.
Confusion Leads to Scam Artists Galore
As sad as it may be, the confusion of the new health care package has led to a booming growth in the amount of scammers in this industry. Scam artists are using methods such as calling and saying there are only a few spots left in the government health program, and requesting the consumer give them their bank account to get it started. Others have been receiving calls from toll-free numbers telling them that they have a limited time to sign up for the new government program and offering assistance. Obviously, this assistance that is offered is completely unnecessary and is a pure scam.
Ways to Stay Away from Scam Artists
There are several helpful ways to keep those scam artists away from your bank account. First, understand the rules and regulations involved with the new health care overhaul bill. Never fall for high pressure “buy it now or else” sales pitches. If you are called and hear the word “ObamaCare” and are asked to purchase, hang up immediately. The scam artists are wise and they are preying on those who are most vulnerable. Make sure you aren’t one of the vulnerable victims of these pathetic scams.
